Shaws Point is a very nice well run place. We have been coming here for 30 years. The marinas and boat launch are great. I would have given more stars except for the exorbitant prices. The nightly rate is high but what I really object to is the $13.00 per day for our boat which with gst comes to over $65.00 per day and lots of days we didnt even use the boat due to weather. I think a onetime charge of $20.00 or so would be much more fair for the boat. We stayed 6 nites , put the boat in the water once and that cost us $78.00 plus gst just to have the boat here. A little unreasonable I would say. We are seniors and on a fixed income. Next year we are considering other places on the lake to cut down on expenses .

Nice campground. Very busy. Lots of full time seasonal campers, most of them have golf carts. The golf carts are being driven around all day, this makes it very hard to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The carts are also being driven around by children so be careful when your walking out of your camp site.

Ive been coming here for over 30 years. There has been many changes over the years, and they are all good changes. This is a very well run resort. White sand beaches, great marinas, well equipped store, restaurant, boat rentals, fish cleaning facilities, and just about anything else you will need to spend some quality time camping at the lake. On the weekends in the summer the resort hosts the farmers market which is always a big hit.Canada Day is always great, and the fireworks show is amazing... likely one of the best fireworks displays around.

If you haven't camped here, make plans to do it. This is a Northern Alberta camping resort that does it right! Plenty of camping spaces and full of amenities: long sandy beach, well-equipped store, affordable boat rentals, 2 marinas, large playground, restaurant, very clean flush toilets throughout the massive grounds, not those outhouses normally found in campgrounds. Clean 1$ coin-op showers with excellent water pressure and temperature. Big treed sites and lots of places for kids to run and play.

What was supposed to be a fun family weekend turned into a horrid nightmare. My family travelled from all over Alberta to spend a weekend at the so-called Jewel of the North and was met with unnecessary scrutiny. My nieces and nephews (6 boys, 6 girls) and myself felt lucky enough to have found a camping spot big enough to accommodate us as a group, but were quickly assured that we were unwelcome and under close watch. On the Saturday morning, the kids (ages 8-14) were playing a game down near the beach on the grassy area just down from our lot, they had a cheap speaker and had been playing music. From where I was (less than 15ft away) I was hardly able to hear the music myself. Within two hours a staff member ( Im not sure of her name, had bangs and bright pink lipstick) had come down four times to tell them to shut it off. When I read the rules, I was under the understanding that quiet time was at 11, and this was 5:00 in the afternoon! Each time the kids had turned it down, but she persisted in ruining their innocent fun. The music was clean; and at a reasonable volume, I dont understand the problem! We werent the only people playing music either! This place has a very discriminatory agenda against lots with big families, reasonable or not. I will not bring them back here again as it really put a damper on the morale of the kids. Camping is supposed to be about family fun, and this place is unwelcoming to anyone trying to achieve that.
